Introduction to Muebie

Welcome to Muebie!

Muebie is a blazing-fast, lightweight, open-source music streaming client and server application designed for people who love high-quality audio and value complete control over their library.

Unlike mainstream commercial streaming products, Muebie focuses on an offline-first, privacy-respecting workflow with zero third-party tracking, zero mandatory account registration, and zero subscription fees.

Muebie is built from the ground up on native audio decoding libraries, enabling gapless and hardware-accelerated playback of massive high-resolution audio formats such as:

  • FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec)
  • ALAC (Apple Lossless Audio Codec)
  • WAV & AIFF
  • High bitrate MP3, AAC, and OGG

No analytical tracking, no marketing tracking, and no phone-home mechanisms. Your music taste is entirely private to you.

Manage locally stored files on your hard disk alongside network audio streams (such as Subsonic, WebDAV, or compatible stream indices) inside a unified interface.

Sync your music, playlist files, playback history, and listening habits directly across your local network using direct device-to-device Wi-Fi syncing.

Muebie operates on a dual-component model:

  • The Desktop/Mobile Client: A lightweight, GPU-accelerated graphical interface that handles local storage indexing, audio reproduction, and playlist management.
  • The Host Server (Optional): A self-hostable service that acts as a centralized library vault, streaming audio files remotely to client instances when you are outside your home network.
